What Will I be Doing?
The Accountant will be responsible for accounting functions associated with the recording and production of financial statements for assigned business units. Perform the assigned functions related to configurations, posting and interface functions impacting the financial statements, including general accounting, payable and payroll. Assist the Manager in providing accounting support to various shared services departments.
- Prepare and review journal entries per established policy related to assigned entities
- Train/Lead team members on various accounting functions as applicable such as operating expenses, Payroll, AR and AP processes
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations related to assigned entities. Determine correcting entries for reconciling items
- Prepare and analyze annual property taxes
- Complete all sales tax filings when applicable
- Review team member journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations assigned
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations and record journal entries to clear outstanding items
- Research and resolve outstanding accounts receivable
- Review financial statements before distribution to the Manager for integrity and accuracy
- Create and post journal entries, analyze financial results, ensure that all deadlines are met and all deliverables are completed with a high quality product.
- Review and perform bank reconciliations associated with assigned business units and record journal entries to clear outstanding items
- Assist the Manager in improving efficiencies by evaluating processes and procedures in order to maximize accuracy of financial statements
- Verify that data presented is accurate and complete
- Document processes and procedures for the assigned functions
- Perform ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and modeling as requested.
- Perform special projects as requested by management
- Assists co-team members and internal customers with financial information
- Assists auditors with year-end reporting
- Provides highest quality of service to customers and staff at all times
- Work effectively with team members within Accounting and across departments to effect changes and complete special projects required as part of company-wide goals and objectives
To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required
- 1-3 years of related experience
- Advanced excel and word experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory, regulations, systems and procedures
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Timeshare or hotel experience is preferred
- Experience in managing accounting or finance staff preferred
- People Soft experience preferred
